About me
About me and my therapy practice
Life is not always straightforward, and at times it can become challenging, leaving us feeling overwhelmed by a range of complex emotions that may impact our daily lives. We do not always have someone with whom we can fully share our innermost thoughts and feelings.
Having the support of a trained professional who is not personally connected to our lives can provide the space to open up and speak freely. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment and to work collaboratively with you to explore ways of helping you move forward.
My approach
A psychodynamic approach
I am a psychodynamic counsellor with specialist experience in working with relationship difficulties, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
My work seeks to facilitate the exploration of unconscious processes shaping thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. By examining how early experiences and relational patterns influence current functioning, therapy aims to foster greater insight, support psychological wellbeing, and promote meaningful and sustained personal development.
My background
The person behind what we see on the surface
My professional journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to understanding people’s emotional worlds and the meaning behind their behaviour. I have always been interested in the person behind what we see on the surface, particularly when someone’s difficulties may not be fully understood by others.
I began my career in social services, working with young children who had experienced early adversity and trauma, before moving into education. Here, I supported children with social, emotional and behavioural needs, speech and language difficulties, cognitive processing challenges and complex additional needs, including autism.
My growing interest in emotional development led me to work within an Additional Resource Provision (ARP), where I trained at UCL as a Nurture Group Practitioner. This experience deepened my understanding of the importance of emotional security, positive relationships and creating environments where people feel safe enough to learn and grow.
Childhood and adult life
Meaningful change begins with understanding
I later studied psychology and went on to train as a psychodynamic counsellor. This enabled me to develop a deeper understanding of the unconscious processes that can influence our emotions, behaviours and relationships, and how early experiences and attachments can continue to shape our lives in adulthood.
I am particularly interested in the connection between childhood and adult life, including how early relationships and experiences can influence the ways we relate to ourselves and others, the roles we take on, and our experiences of parenting. Through a psychodynamic lens, I seek to explore how patterns from the past may continue to influence the present, often in ways we may not fully recognise.
My approach is grounded in empathy, compassion and genuine curiosity about each person’s unique story. I aim to provide a thoughtful, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and understood, and where there is time to explore difficult feelings, experiences and relationships.
I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding. By developing greater awareness of the experiences and emotions that shape us, we can begin to make sense of ourselves, our relationships and the ways we navigate life — creating space for growth and change.
